The art of being framed
Today I’d like to share my thoughts on how best to display treasured pieces of art and photos. Adam and I have recently decided to make a feature of one of our walls by mounting an array of pictures altogether which has led to some debate and a lot of research via Pinterest. Alas we are still in the process of agreeing on how our display will look and which photos to choose but here are a few of my favourite arrangement ideas. What I love about these particular displays is the impact of using contrasting styles and sizes of pictures and frames. I think it’s very effective to have photos, be it black and white or colour, displayed next to still life drawings or distinctive oil paintings together with different styles of frames from simple black to elaborate gold gilded ones. It’s also interesting to see that most of the displays featured above show the pictures mounted from floor to ceiling and even trailing around the door frame or simply placed uniformly on shelves, either way you can really make a statement and let your artwork grab the attention it deserves. I’m now off to ponder over the background wall colour, should I go white or grey?….
